Solihull Liberal Democrat MP Lorely Burt is calling on Heart of England Foundation Trust to consult patients and residents over proposals to close two wards at Solihull Hospital.
Mrs Burt has met with Dr Mark Newbold, Chief Executive of Heart of England Foundation Trust, and written to him to request proper consultation on proposals to close wards 10 and 18.
Plans to close Ward 10 in March were put on hold for three months following an intervention by local MPs. A final decision on its future is expected in June.
Mrs Burt said, "I remain very concerned about the future of dementia services at Ward 10 and I am keen to maintain the pressure to make sure vulnerable patients are protected.
"I am aware that Solihull Hospital needs to lose some beds because more patients are being treated at home, which is welcome.
"However, their past record for consulting patients and residents has not always been exemplary. I have written to the Chief Executive of the Foundation Trust asking for a proper consultation and I look forward to his reply."
