Public Meeting over Plans to Amalgamate Daylesford & Chapelfields Schools

Solihull Council is consulting on plans to merge these neighbouring schools in Lyndon.

Lib Dem Councillors with Campaigners and Children at Daylesford School

Both schools are in desperate need of modernisation and expansion. The current consultation is exploring the technical closure of Daylesford Infant School, however both sites will remain open until at least September 2019.

The current phase of consultation is gathering the views of the parents of pupils and the wider community and will finish on Friday 3rd November.

Council policy is that a school shall be amalgamated with another where

  • An Infant or Junior School Head Teacher leaves
  • A school requires extending to accommodate demand, or
  • A school is failing

The public meeting will be at The Lyndon Pub, on Barn Lane, on October16th at 7.30pm, for parents of both schools and the local community to discuss the plans. It won’t be attended by representatives of the School or the Council, but Lyndon Lib Dem Councillors and campaigners will be there to hear the views of the local community.
