Councillors were shocked to find Conservative proposals to move Bickenhill Tip and the Moat Lane Depot to Damson Parkway on publication of the Local Plan recently.
At full council on 7th October 2020 Cllr Laura McCarthy raised concerns with the Conservative Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member about the lack of consultation and about the potential impact on Elmdon residents.

Given the circumstances, Cllr Laura McCarthy proposed a vote to extend the Local Plan consultation from 6 weeks to 12 to enable residents to respond. Shamefully, the Conservatives unanimously voted against this proposal and the time limit will remain at 6 weeks beginning later this month. Due to concerns about the impact on Elmdon, Liberal Democrats had no option but to vote against the local plan.
This development is incredibly inappropriate for such close proximity to housing. We implore all residents concerned about additional traffic, pollution, impact on health, and noise to object to the consultation on the council website when it goes live and to sign our petition below.
We, the undersigned, call on Solihull Council to abandon plans to relocate the Bickenhill Tip to Damson Parkway.
