A Message From Laura McCarthy

Dear Voter,

My name is Laura McCarthy, and I am asking for your vote on 3rd May 2018.

I am a married mother raising two young children. I run a small business conducting wedding celebration, naming, and commitment ceremonies, and also work in customer services. I helped to found the Elmdon Community Action Group and am the local Street Watch Co-Ordinator. You may have seen us out and about in our high-vis jackets being an extra set of eyes and ears on the street for the police.

For the last few years Elmdon residents have trusted Councillor Glenis Slater and Councillor Martin Hewings to represent them. I hope that you will grant me the privilege of doing the same for our community.

As an Elmdon Resident myself, I understand the problems facing the ward, in particular, the rise in crime, speeding in Elmdon, social care for the elderly, and problem parking. That’s why I’m standing for election.

I’m not a career politician using Elmdon as a stepping stone for ‘greater things’. I am an Elmdon resident who wants to stand up and help my community.

I want to help you, my neighbours, by standing up in the council chamber and being your voice. Elmdon is already a fantastic place to live, which is why I’m raising my family here. I want to help make it an ever better place to live and work for you and your family.

Many of you know that before becoming the Liberal Democrat candidate I was already working within the community and the wider area of Solihull. I understand the issues that we are facing, and I’ve already worked with many of you to help you solve problems locally. No one will work harder for Elmdon than me, but in order to do this I need your vote.

This year every vote counts. In the last local election Glenis Slater won by just 55 votes. On May 3rd your vote could make the difference.

So on Thursday 3rd May, please consider ticking the box next to “McCarthy, Laura”.

Thank you for your time

Laura

Dear Resident,

I could not have hoped for a better successor than Laura. She's bright, hard working, talented and caring. She has already made a huge difference in Elmdon. If elected, I know she'll be an excellent Councillor, both within the Council Chamber on behalf of Elmdon residents and in every road, street and park in Elmdon.
But she will only be able to do this, if you vote for her on 3rd May.

Retiring Elmdon Lib Dem Councillor,
Martin Hewings

Dear Reader,

It is my privilege to recommend Laura McCarthy for Elmdon in the May 3rd Local Elections.

Laura is a Elmdon resident who feels passionately about our area. Making a difference for the good of our community comes naturally to Laura. Long before we approached her to become our candidate she was already working with Elmdon community groups.

Laura cares about people and as a mother herself she will stand up for children and education. Laura cares about the elderly, the health of our community, the state of our roads and environment. Laura will be a strong voice in our council chamber.

I am looking forward to a long working relationship with Laura as I know that should she be elected, together as local residents ourselves, we will always put Elmdon first. VOTE FOR LAURA McCARTHY ON 3rd MAY.

Best Wishes

Glenis Slater,
Elmdon Ward Councillor
