Advanced Manufacturing Hub follows MP’s call in Parliament

The government will fund an Advanced Manufacturing Hub for Greater Birmingham and Solihull following a call in Parliament by local MP Lorely Burt.

Cabinet Office Minister Greg Clark agreed to consider providing funding in response to a question in the Commons Chamber by Mrs Burt in March.

The government's new Local Growth Deal with Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership commits £2 million of government money to support a 20-hectare Advanced Manufacturing Hub.

Mrs Burt said, "I am grateful to the minister for taking on board my representations back in March. The West Midlands, as I said at the time, really is the advanced manufacturing capital of the UK.

"I am delighted the government is recognising this with proper support and I congratulate the Local Enterprise Partnership for negotiating a great deal for our area."
