Campden Green Parking Crisis - Please sign our petition!
Please Sign our Petition to Address the Damage being caused by Parking on Campden Green by Providing Alternative Parking Locations.
Campden Green is lovely area with the Green at its heart, but the street was not designed to support modern car ownership.
Many residents lack the ability to park on their properties. Some houses are substantial distance from the road. The concentration of houses in some corners means it is not possible for every resident to park outside their property. When cars are parked on the street, it is difficult for large vehicles to pass. The garage area is dark and intimidating to use at night.
As a result of all these factors, cars are being parked on the grass. This is churning it up, making it unsightly. Because the winter has been so wet, vehicles are also getting stuck in the mud, requiring pushing off. Additionally, anti-social drives occasionally think it is fun to drive around on the Green doing substantial damage.
In addition, Campden Green suffers from a large amount of temporary parking as parents drop off and collect children from the nearby Lyndon School.
Kathryn and Ade have proposed to the council a scheme, which would address all these issues and transform Campden Green into an area that meets 21st Century requirements.
Initially, the council responded positively to this proposal, but has subsequently raised concerns about funding and setting a precedent, which other areas might seek to follow. However, we believe this is a good solution to Campden Green's Parking issues and would like to see Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council implement this solution.
Please sign our petition asking Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to urgently implement our proposal to address the parking issues in Campden Green.
