Liberal Democrat Councillors were shocked to hear proposals to move Bickenhill Tip and the Moat Lane Depot to Damson Parkway recently.
At full council Cllr Laura McCarthy raised concerns with the Conservative Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member about the potential impact on Elmdon residents and the lack of consultation. You can see the video here: YouTube
Given the circumstances, Cllr Laura McCarthy proposed a vote to extend the Local Plan consultation from 6 weeks to 12 to enable residents more time to respond.
Shamefully, the Conservatives unanimously voted against this proposal and the time limit will remain at 6 weeks beginning later in October. Due to concerns about the impact on Elmdon, Lib Dems had no option but to vote against the local plan. Conservatives unanimously voted to endorse the plan.
This development is incredibly inappropriate for such close proximity to housing and we are baffled by the plans. We implore all residents concerned about additional traffic on local roads, pollution, and noise to object to the consultation on the council website when it opens later this month and to sign our petition at www.solihull-libdems.org.uk/tip.
