MP condemns £150,000 library move

Shirley Library is set to close for the last time on 3rd May. A replacement library is set to open in the Parkhead development despite over 80% of users who responded to a council survey saying they opposed the move.

Solihull Liberal Democrat MP Lorely Burt said, "Residents in Shirley will lose 15% of their library books because Conservative councillors, once again, have ignored their views.

"The move to the new library will cost £150,000, money that could have been spent protecting valuable services elsewhere or supporting local businesses.

"Unfortunately this is what residents have come to expect from a Conservative council that thinks it always knows best."
