MPs set to debate hospital car parking

Solihull Liberal Democrat MP Lorely Burt is backing a call by over 100 MPs for a debate in the House of Commons on hospital car parking charges.

Mrs Burt has officially lent her support to a call for a General Debate in the Main Chamber of the House of Commons.

An application has been made to the Backbench Business Committee for a 90-minute debate, which Mrs Burt hopes will take place no later than September this year.

Mrs Burt said, "We all want low parking charges and it's especially important to avoid large, sudden increases like we have recently seen in Solihull.

"Hospital users across the UK are being hit with big increases in parking charges so it's right that MPs are recognising the problem.

"I am pleased to back calls for a debate in Parliament and I hope to attend and speak out."
