Solihull will benefit from better local transport and an aviation engineering centre at Solihull College, thanks to the Local Growth Deal announced by the government.
The £357 million deal includes:
- £2 million for an Aviation Engineering Training Centre at Solihull College, providing training for 145 people and creating six jobs
- £50 million to improve the A45 link between Birmingham City Centre and Birmingham International Airport
- £2.7 million to improve highways - 11 projects in Solihull and seven in Birmingham - creating 198 jobs
- £10 million to improve Birmingham Snow Hill Station, which links to Solihull Station and Olton Station
Solihull Liberal Democrat MP Lorely Burt has welcomed the deal, saying, "This growth deal is a great deal for our area.
"I have been banging the drum for years saying the West Midlands needs and deserves world-class infrastructure to match our world-class manufacturers and other businesses.
"These are exactly the sort of projects we need and I hope they will make a real difference."
