Almost four years since we made deputations to Solihull Council, asking for leases to be renewed for The 1st Olton Scout Group and The Olton Park Guides, neither the Scouts nor the Guides have had their leases renewed.
Promises were made following the April 2018 deputations that leases would be renewed for both The Scouts and The Guides premises on Brackleys Way.
Despite those assurances almost 4 years ago, both buildings are still under threat of demolition, as part of the council's plans to redevelop the former Summerfield PRU. We have been told by council officers that 'potential redevelopment of the whole site would draw in the land on which the huts sit'.
As it stands, any such redevelopment by the council would mean demolition of the Scouts and Guides huts, which would render both groups homeless.
That’s why we’re calling on the Council to renew the leases for the Olton Scouts and Guides Huts on Brackleys Way.
