Lib Dems Welcome ‘Good’ Ofsted Report

Cllr Sarah Phipps & Cllr Ade Adeyemo

Liberal Democrats in Solihull have welcomed Ofsted’s latest report following their Inspection of Solihull’s children’s services in November 2025.  The council received a 'Good' overall rating from Ofsted, confirming improvements to its children's services.

The Ofsted inspection was carried out between 3-14 November 2025 and acknowledges the actions taken by leaders to improve Solihull’s children’s services after they were found in their 2022 inspection to be inadequate.

Councillor Sarah Phipps, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Children & Education, said:

“It is heartening to read the full inspection report following the Ofsted inspection of Solihull Children’s services in November 2025.
“We very much welcome the recognition of the clear improvements that have been made in the borough.  Central to this has been the focus, drive and commitment from council staff.

“We hope that this political and organisational focus continues so improvements can be sustained especially in relation to the experiences and progress of care leavers where we know lots more needs to be done.

“We also need to recognise that sustained improvement in children’s services requires sustained financial investment.”

Cllr Ade Adeyemo, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Solihull Council, said:

“Liberal Democrats in Solihull welcome the council’s positive progress on children’s services and we commend the massive efforts put in by council staff and management to achieve this ‘Good’ overall rating.

“We are conscious that more needs to be done, which is why we will continue to support council officers and scrutinising the administration as a ‘critical friend.”
